At the end of November, Sabritas announced the NFTazos, a series of digital collectibles based on the iconic original tazos that circulated throughout Mexico mainly in the 90s.

Now, almost 30 years after its original launch, the brand has decided to renew them virtually through the " NFTazos ", a series of collectibles that take as their theme the " soccer spirit " of the World Cup.

What are NFTazos and how do they work?

Sabritas details that these collectibles have been available for purchase by users since November 30, through the JOY APP, being a collection of more than 1,000 designs across three different categories (gold, silver, and bronze).

However, unlike other NFT products, which can be reviewed or purchased from platforms such as OpenSea.

NFTazos are exclusive to the JOY APP, but despite living in its independent ecosystem, they are supported by the certificate of authenticity issue. inherent in these collectibles, by the Vatom platform.

These unique identification codes can be seen once the NFTazos are acquired, but for now, the history can only be consulted by the person who acquires them, as they exist within the JOY APP.

They also point out that although at the moment their intention is that these remain only within their exclusive app, it is not ruled out that in the future they can be transferred to other platforms.

To acquire them you cannot use traditional money or cryptocurrencies, nor do they have a sale price, since they can only be obtained through the JOY APP, since they work as a reward for consumers of PepsiCo brand products, from where they can be exchanged JOY points, which are obtained by entering the participating packaging codes and which can be redeemed within the catalog.

Being outside of OpenSea-style platforms, it is not required to pay fees to acquire them, unlike the rest of NFTs where a " fee " must be paid to acquire them in addition to the price of the token.

The benefits and future plans of the NFTazos

For now, Sabritas points out that by being part of the first phase, the tokens do not grant access to more content or include additional benefits or rewards, and this part will be reviewed as the process grows, to provide " differentiated experiences to users." users ".

This may not be the best way to use NFTazos

Despite the fact that the tokens are only found in the wallet of each user within the JOY APP, it is contemplated that in the future they will have a higher level of interactivity, first as a collector's item, but later with the ability to be exchanged Or even play with them. 

The company also points out that, as with the original tazos, which had different thematic collections, new collaborations will be launched, although for now the route of the next NFTazos series cannot be revealed.
