Are you hesitating to choose your future gaming chair? Here is our comparative selection of the best models on the market.
A few years ago, choosing a chair specifically for video games might seem superfluous. In reality, many users were already looking at office chairs to be more comfortable in front of their PC and it didn't matter if it was about tracking down zombies rather than filling out Excel spreadsheets. Today, the gaming chair market is no longer anecdotal.
Every month new products come out, new ideas emerge and it is not easy to navigate. We obviously try to identify the products that seem the most interesting, but we are always afraid of making a mistake.
An armchair being intimately linked to the comfort of its user, we will not claim to have the answer to everything, but our selection should already help you to see things more clearly with quality products at several price levels.
Our selection of the best gaming chairs
1 The G-Lab K-Seat Rhodium Atom
2 Ikea Markus
3 REKT ULTIM8-RS
4 REKT RGo
5 Herman Miller x Logitech G Gaming Embody
The G-Lab K-Seat Rhodium Atom
A specialist in accessible gaming peripherals, The G-Lab could not fail to offer chairs for gamers.
Its K-Seat Rhodium Atom cannot be compared to the tenors of the sector, but it provides the essentials and does not suffer from any real defect while its price remains reasonable. We are far from the inflation experienced by the sector.
Using mesh fabric for the back upholstery is obviously a way to lower the price, but it's also a great idea to avoid poor-quality leatherette in order to keep something rather durable.
Other advantages: you breathe better and it makes the chair lighter. The general design is certainly quite ordinary, but without anything frightening and the assembly is very simple: note in passing that the dismantling is also very simple.
It's not always the case. Ultimately, this model largely does the job and allows you to equip yourself well without breaking the bank.
WE LOVE
1 Interesting price
2 Rather sober and elegant design
3 Easy to assemble/disassemble
4 Pleasant fabric upholstery
WE DON'T LIKE
1 Relatively simplistic armrests
2 Slight creaks when tilting
3 No neck/back padding
Ikea Markus
When it comes to cheap furniture, the Swedish brand needs no introduction.
The Markus chair from Ikea is not strictly speaking a gaming product, but as we said earlier, certain “desktop” models can be perfectly suitable for video games.
This is clearly the case here. From the outset, we are charmed by the design of a product that knows how to keep a certain outfit.
we are very far from the armchairs you saw that we too often associate with the profile of the player.
To avoid spoiling anything, Ikea leaves a lot of choice by offering four colors and it should be noted that the armrests are of course easily retractable if you find them superfluous.
This is also one of the weak points of this model here: once in place, the armrests cannot be adjusted in any direction whatsoever.
Fortunately, on everything else, Ikea provides the essentials each time: a comfortable backrest which, even without a cushion, offers some support for the back, rather mobile wheels which lock when you get up from the seat, a wide seat, and pleasant despite the absence of shape memory.
At the end of the day, this Markus is certainly not the best armchair on the market, but like the Ikea products, it fulfills the specifications perfectly.
WE LOVE
WE DON'T LIKE
1 Armrests fixed and to be improved
2 Casters may not be mobile enough
3 Relatively large footprint
REKT ULTIM8-RS
With the young French brand REKT, there is clearly no ambiguity: its chairs are designed by players and designed for players.
The ULTIM8-RS is only one of the many representatives of its catalog in general and of this range in particular.
It is also and above all the least expensive of the ULTIM8s, which immediately puts it in an excellent position to attract the favor of players: at the same price, it is indeed very difficult to find such a good product.
At first glance, we fall under the spell of a product that is certainly bulky but retains a certain measure.
However, the backrest is comfortable and the seat, ample, is no less so. You quickly feel at ease, especially since the foams – unfortunately not memory foam – are very dense. Two cushions are provided for the neck and the back so that everyone should find their account.
The fabric covering may have the defect of not being mesh, but you can still breathe quite well in it.
Still, the most important thing is the comfort felt once in the middle of the game: we have already mentioned the backrest or the seat, we must mention the armrests, 4D, easy to adjust as well as the many tilt position always very pleasant.
At this price level, really difficult to do better.
WE LOVE
1 Quite a remarkable comfort
2 Convenient neck and lumbar cushions
3 Wide tilt/tilt functionality
4 No less than 7 colors to choose from
5 Reliable, robust, and easy to assemble
WE DON'T LIKE
1 No memory foam in the cushions
2 A few details to review (wheel lock, control handle)
