Nvidia's RTX 4070 Ti pre-order price in China isn't pretty

Given the exciting flop that Nvidia's 12GB RTX 4080 attempt was(opens in a new tab)I foolishly hoped the upcoming 4070 Ti would be a shining light for the brand's GPU offering.

If these cards came in at an affordable price, they could be a great choice for future releases.

But after seeing the prices projected by Chinese stores, any optimism I had was largely dashed.

If you're happy to pay around the same amount that Nvidia planned to sell those aforementioned 12GB 4080s, then I guess you're in luck.

Selon VideoCardz(opens in a new tab), some Chinese retailers have started taking pre-orders for the upcoming 4070 Ti boards, giving us a look at the potential price of the units.

These vary a lot, especially since the Chinese market tends to focus on custom cards, but it still indicates that the prices for these cards are going to be damned high.

The cheapest reported offering is the Inno3D RTX 4070 Ti X3 which costs 7199 RMB or around 1034 USD.

Given that 4080 cards typically cost around US$1,200 in North American stores, that doesn't bode well.

Inno3D is also the proud owner of the most expensive card on the list, the Inno3D RTX 4070 Ti iChill which sits at 8399 RMB or 1206 USD.

It's hard to imagine any of these being worth the choice over a straight 4080.

We'll no doubt have a game with one of these cards when we can get our hands on them, but I'd be surprised if the benchmarking was in favor of the 4070 Ti in this game.

Other cards in the lineup include a few offerings from Gigabyte. The Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Eagle, Gaming OC, AORUS Elite, and AORUS Master are all there, falling between the price ranges of around $1,070 and $1,175.

There's no sign of the Aero we saw last week(opens in a new tab), but it's likely to fall somewhere in that range as well. Still, at these prices, I don't think any of these cards are recommended.

We'll likely see these cards on display at CES with a January 5 launch, but unless Nvidia has some big surprises on the price front, there's not much to get excited about.

Coming in at the same price these 12GB 4080s were slated for is a big deal in my books.
